Pre-school children receive a firm foundation for the transition to school. There is a balanced and varied curriculum which focuses on the seven areas of the new foundation stage. These are the prime areas of Communication and Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
The three prime areas are strengthened by using the areas of Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design.
We have three large, well equipped preschool rooms, in which the children build upon their interests by learning through play. Our preschoolers have the opportunity to develop their skills as well as take on new challenges and learn through both adult led and child initiated activities. Children are observed regularly to enable the staff to provide age appropriate activities that are constantly supporting them through the EYFS, ensuring that all children have a varied curriculum.
All children have an online folder that includes their 'learning journey' , examples of their work, and photographs. Each individual folder includes assessments, ongoing developmental needs, preferences, achievements and the planning for the 'next steps' relating to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. Parents are encouraged to read and add to these.
